Bella Vista is a city of around 27,000 people living throughout the hills of Northwest Arkansas Ozark, affording  many spectacular views and where wildlife abounds.  Extensive hardwood forests (primarily Oak/Hickory) weave through the neighborhoods as "common ground", providing space and privacy to homeowners as well as shelter to large populations of wild deer, squirrels, birds, and other native species.  A drive around Bella Vista displays the careful consideration the natural environment and geography has been given in the planning and implementation of this lovely community of nearly 25,000 souls.

Living in Bella Vista has been likened by many as feeling like you're on a permanent vacation.

Bella Vista has a rich history, albeit a short one, as it began as a vacation resort area in the early 1900s (rather like the resort featured in the movie "Dirty Dancing).  You can learn more about our history from the early years to the present by clicking here.   In the early 1960's visionary John Cooper Sr. of Cooper Communities Inc, saw it's potential as a planned residential destination for thousands of new residents seeking an active retirement lifestyle and began creating Bella Vista Village.

Bella Vista became one of the largest unincorporated village in the nation until, on November 7, 2006, thousands of resident voters took to the poles, turning the Village of Bella Vista, Arkansas into The City of Bella Vista, complete with it's own Mayor, a Recorder/treasurer Mayor, Recorder/Treasurer,  Attorney, and a 5 member City Council.

Today, Bella Vista, though still a popular destination for retirees, it's also become a bedroom community for those who work in Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale, Fayetteville or Southwest Missouri. We've very little commercial ventures of our own, but we do have safe neighborhoods, natural beauty and wildlife, large treed lots, hundreds of acres of wooded common ground, some of the best and most numerous amenities of any city in the United States and wonderful friendly people. Families who work in Northwest Arkansas are finding that Bella Vista is a fun, safe place to raise their families.

Bella Vista is a GREAT place to retire!

Don't take my word for it ...Forbes Magazine placed Bella Vista, AR as #4 on their list of top 25 Cities for Retirees, citing our low crime, mild weather, great economy, and below cost of living index.

The only con?  Low Walkability.  However, they are most likely talking about our lack of sidewalks.  Our beautiful Ozark hills are not suitable to sidewalks, but that doesn't stop anyone from walking.  Our streets are so safe, everyone just walks the streets, waving to friendly neighbors along the way. That fact, along with all the lovely trails in Bella Vista (Including our newest paved walking trail, Branchwood, In the Highlands, and I'd say we are extreamly walkable!

BELLA VISTA PROPERTY OWNER ASSOCIATION ASSESSMENTS & FEES

Living in Bella Vista does come at a price, however, with all Bella Vista has to offer in terms of recreation, thousands have found the price well worth it!

Monthly assessment dues are 16.00/mo on unimproved lots and 37.00/mo on improved lots. These assessment costs help to maintain Bella Vista parks and lakes, club houses, golf courses, community programs and other amenties.  These assement costs will not go up without approval of the property owners, or a court order.

In addition to monthly assessment costs, there are membership and guest fees for golfing, tennis, boating and clubhouse facilities to further help support the various venues offered in Bella Vista village.  Assement costs are so low that these fees are necessary to maintain the amenties at quality levels.

To take advantage to the lower fees afforded members, you are required to purchase a yearly Membership Activity Card.  You can learn more about the fees and Actifity card at www.bellavistapoa.com.  Just click on the Membership Services link.

Bella Vista has been rated number one among Arkansas Cities under 50,000 for homeownership,
based on affordability, availability, medium income spend on housing, and positive economic
growth rate.  Learn more about this comprehensive study HERE
