Bella Vista was, for over 40 years, a planned recreational community created by visionary John Cooper.  Bella Vista was begun in 1965. 41 years later, on November 7, 2006, the resident voters turned the unincorporated village of Bella Vista, Arkansas into Bella Vista City, complete with a Mayor, Recorder/Treasurer,  Attorney, and a 5 member Council.

So now that we are Bella Vista City, what does this mean?

Only Time Will Tell....An immediate difference is that our monthly association dues of 24.00 improved lots and 16.00 unimproved lots will no longer be needed to upkeep the police and fire departments and other municipal departments.  It will now go directly into the Property Owner's fund for maintaining and improving the amenities (lakes, golf courses, etc).

We are two communities, a retirement community (I'd guess that over 60% of our population is 55 or older) and a bedroom community for those who work in Bentonville, Rogers or other areas south, or in Southwest Missouri. We've very little commercial ventures of our own, but we do have safe neighborhoods, happy friendly people, large treed lots, lots of common ground, 7 Golf Courses, 7 Lakes, 5 Club Houses, RV park, a marina, 3 Swimming Pools, 2 Putt Putt golf courses, 3 Playgrounds, Tennis Courts, 2 Workout facilities, miles of walking trails, a dog park, a ball park...all for the use of POA (Property Owner Association) members only.

True, many of the activities cost for those who use them (golf, swimming pools, work out facilities), but are quite reasonable.  The only reason they charge at all is because our POA dues are only 24.00/mo, a fraction of the cost of association dues around the country and we get so much more for our money!  Keeping up all these amenities does cost money.

Bella Vista is a great place to live, believe me! However, thanks in great part to it's close proximity to Bentonville (home of Wal-Mart), Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville Arkansas, and the affordability of homes in Bella Vista, the demographics have been changing.

Younger families are discovering that Bella Vista is also a wonderful community for anyone wanting a lovely  home and active lifestyle, young or old!  We have best of both worlds...a laid back atmosphere in close proximity to larger city conveniences!

Bella Vista is tucked into the Northwest Arkansas Ozark hills, affording  many spectacular views.  Extensive hardwood forests (primarily Oak/Hickory) weave through the neighborhoods as "common ground", providing space and privacy to homeowners as well as shelter to large populations of wild deer, turkey, squirrels, birds, and other native animal species.  A drive around Bella Vista displays the careful consideration the natural environment and geography has been given in the planning and implementation of this lovely community.

BELLA VISTA RECREATION

Both Retired and Working Residents of Bella Vista can enjoy many recreational opportunities. There are 7 Bella Vista lakes providing year round water recreation..  No matter where you live in Bella Vista you are never more then a few miles from a lake. Lakes Info

Golf is a passion among many Bella Vista residents, which is not at all surprising since Bella Vista is home to 7 Golf Courses designed to please all skill levels, from the very beginning golfer to the top flight pro. Golfing Info

Take a walk along the paved walking trail and visit the impressive war memorial.  Take a lovely nature hike on Tanyard Creek Nature Trail. 

Play tennis on one of the 14 tennis courts. Enjoy the indoor and outdoor swimming pools.  Join one of the many social groups!  Bella Vista is perfect for those looking for a community that offers an active lifestyle, and yet gives one room to stretch out and enjoy privacy when needed! Bella Vista is indeed a wonderful community for anyone to call HOME!

BELLA VISTA IS PET FRIENDLY!

Seems like most Bella Vistians have a pet of some kind.  In 2010 the Bella Vista Animal Shelter, in cooperation with the Property Owner's Association, opened the 1st dog park in the Bella Vista Highlands.

The Bella Vista Animal Shelter holds fun activities throughout the year with proceeds going to benefit it's furry guests.  They also have great volunteer opportunities!

BELLA VISTA PROPERTY OWNER ASSOCIATION ASSESSMENTS & FEES

Living in Bella Vista does come at a price, however, with all Bella Vista has to offer in terms of recreation, thousands have found the price well worth it! 

Monthly assessment dues are 16.00/mo on unimproved lots and 24.00/mo on improved lots. These assessment costs help to maintain Bella Vista roads and community property as well as provide funding for police and fire protection for village residents.  

In addition to monthly assessment costs, there are membership and guest fees for golfing, tennis, boating and clubhouse facilities to help support the various venues offered in Bella Vista village.  

To take advantage to the lower fees afforded members, you are required to purchase a yearly Photo ID.  Photo ID's are only required if you plan to use the facilities at membership costs.    The cost of Photo ID's are as follows:   ADULT PHOTO ID:  $30.00     JUVENILE (12 - 18) PHOTO ID:  $7.00     CHILDREN (6 - 11) ID:  $2.00    (all prices are subject to change)
